I’m Mirthe van der Valk, a Dutch-trained gastroenterologist with training in both the Netherlands and South Africa, working at Middlemore Hospital since 2022. I manage a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including reflux, IBS, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver diseases. At Middlemore, I care for patients with chronic liver disease and liver cancer. I also perform gastroscopies, colonoscopies, and provide consultations at MacMurray Endoscopy and Specialist Centre.
I prioritize clear communication, and a patient-centered approach, encouraging lifestyle changes that support gut health and overall wellbeing.
