Dr Carolyn Allen
I grew up in Plymouth UK and studied medicine at the University of Birmingham (MBChB 2001). I completed my postgraduate training in the UK (CCT Respiratory, Sleep and General Medicine London 2011). After working in the NHS for 10 years, I immigrated to New Zealand at the end of 2011. I worked at Rotorua Hospital from 2011 - 2019 and moved to Tauranga Hospital in 2019.
I am the clinical lead of the respiratory failure service and have a broad experience in general respiratory medicine, plus pleural procedures and bronchoscopy. I also work in the acute admission unit, maintaining my general medical skills. I established my private practice in 2015.
I practice evidence based, patient centred care and have a strong interest in lifestyle medicine.
I enjoy travel, open-water swimming, yoga, cycling and slow trail running and spending time in my vege garden with the assistance of my large hound.
