Dr Adam Willington

Dr Adam Willington is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist and Endoscopist who is dedicated to helping patients understand and manage digestive and liver conditions. He provides comprehensive assessment and compassionate, evidence-based care.
Adam studied medicine at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2011 with Distinction. He moved to New Zealand in 2013 and completed advanced Gastroenterology training in Christchurch and Auckland. Further experience was gained with specialist fellowships in Gastroenterology at Christchurch Hospital and Liver Medicine/Transplant Hepatology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham (UK), one of the largest specialist liver units in Europe.
Adam consults at the MacMurray Centre and Christchurch Hospital and is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago. Outside of work he is a proud father and husband and enjoys spending time in the outdoors.

  • Endoscopy – diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy

  • Reflux, dyspepsia and swallowing difficulties
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Disorders of gut–brain interaction / functional gastrointestinal disorders
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s disease and microscopic colitis)
  • Coeliac disease
  • Anaemia and gastrointestinal bleeding
