Dr Alasdair Patrick

Dr Alasdair Patrick is a New Zealand-trained Gastroenterologist who, after extensive international experience, returned to NZ to join CMDHB in 2007. He founded the Macmurray Centre in 2009, which is now New Zealand's largest and only comprehensive endoscopy and digestive disease service. The Macmurray Centre now has state-of-the-art centres in Auckland, Waikato, Tauranga, Christchurch and Queenstown, bringing together a large team of dedicated and passionate clinicians to offer many services unavailable anywhere else in NZ.
In response to feedback from his patients, Dr Patrick co-founded HealthFX in 2019, which develops NZ-made products for weight management, nutrition and gut health. In 2020 he introduced Stretta and Restech to New Zealand.

Dr. Patrick has extensive experience in ground breaking technologies that are changing the face of gastroenterology. He has formal training in CT colonography, endoscopic ultrasound, BRAVO pH capsule, pH/impedance testing, manometry, food intolerance testing, capsule endoscopy, Stretta and gastric balloons.
He brings a thoughtful but pioneering approach to gastroenterology — with a keen interest in research, publications and advancing patient care through innovation.
In a recent audit he performed the most colonoscopies in New Zealand.
